Depressed , anxious or sometimes both?

Feeling depressed for an extended period might mean you are clinically depressed.

As many as one in 5 adults may be depressed at any one time.  Lots of well known celebrities suffer or have suffered with depression.  (Google:  UK Celebrities with depression) There may be pockets of society where the percentage is even higher than 1 in 5.    If you visit your GP they may suggest a course of CBT yet often the waiting time to see a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist could be months.  The next common course for your GP is to prescribe SSRI antidepressants such as citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine or sertraline (These are the generic names) These are also prescribed for Anxiety.

There are many different causes of depression. Hypnotherapy can be useful in giving relief and help give clarity to your feelings.   This can help you sort things out.  One of the main principles of hypnotherapy is that you have all the power that you need within your subconscious mind but sometimes need a little help to harness this power.  Anxiety and depression can be extremely debilitating.  Hypnotherapy can help relieve the effects and give a much needed break.  The deep relaxation in hypnotherapy can give a real boost.

Most importantly I will also take time to listen to you and sometimes just being able to offload some of your thoughts to a sympathetic ear can aid relief in itself.

There are a number of changes you can make to manage your depression yet when you are depressed you may lack the motivation to make the changes.  Hypnotherapy can give a much needed boost to your perspective on this.  It can help you to gain perspective and increase your motivation.  Contemplating change when so overwhelmed can add to the burden yet Hypnotherapy can help you feel less overwhelmed.

I have my own very personal experience of depression and have talked openly with friends and relatives who have talked openly about being depressed.  Whilst everyone’s experience of depression can be very different I like to think that I am somewhat attuned to clients suffering from this illness.

Hypnotherapy doesn’t magic away your depression but I can give you a very welcome boost which could be enough to start a chain reaction.  Ultimately it is about empowering you to help yourself.
