Pornography addiction
Are you addicted to Porn?

Like every other addiction is a cycle of behaviour.

After a period of time generally leaves the person feeling worse off than if they didn’t have this cycle of behaviour.

Unlike substance abuse,  addiction to porn can harm the entire context of your relationship or potential relationships.   It has also been found that a serious addiction to porn can shrink parts of your brain – dehumanising you.  It has also been found that this leads to erectile dysfunction.    Until you lose your addiction to porn you may not achieve normal erectile function.   Real sex is less interesting that fantasy.   This can be pretty catastrophic when “fantasy” starts to physically affect real life.       Sex should be an intimate,  “lost in  the moment” connection between two people.  It should mindful and meaningful and an expression of loving.

Initially you may have viewed porn as a harmless bit of fun.  However if it is now taking up hours of your life and you can’t get through a day or a week without watching it then you may have a problem.  Eventually when you realise this,  you may be ready to change your behaviour.

Typically as with any other addiction – wanting to change may not be enough.  You may find that you have a strong desire to satisfy your habit.  The rush of endorphins that you get from the experience means that the habit is chemically linked into your behaviour.  You will need a very strong jolt to help you break out of your negative cycle.

There may also be a root cause to this cycle of behaviour – you have an emotional link.  It is usual with any addiction that there is also an emotional event or trauma.  You may have forgotten what this is and hypnotic regression can help you find this answer.
